2017 Bmw M5 Nighthawk
This BMW M5 Competition Edition is a remarkably rare 'ultimate version' of a renowned high-performance saloon, presented in pristine condition throughout and with very low mileage. Among the most powerful BMWs ever built, it is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine producing 592bhp and 553lb-ft of torque, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift. The odometer currently indicates just 4,679 miles.
BMW introduced the model by stating: "A distinctive personalised look, the standard Competition Package and a comprehensive range of optional features render the BMW M5 "Competition Edition", the production of which is limited to 200, an automobile of exceptionally high value".
Taking the already impressive F10 generation M5, the Competition Edition featured not only a significant power and torque hike - cutting the 0-62mph time to just 3.9 seconds - but added the M Competition Package into the mix. This comprises thicker anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and dampers with a 10mm lower ride height, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and a more direct map for the M specific steering – making it an even more exciting driver's car. The Competition Edition was limited to 200 examples worldwide, with only 20 cars believed to have been delivered new to the UK, making this an extremely rare and collectible super saloon. First registered in February 2017, this special-edition M5 has been enjoyed by just one owner from new.
Boasting a huge specification as standard, the M5 Competition Edition features the 1,200-watt Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System, BMW Head-Up Display, Comfort Access package, heated front and rear seats, adaptive LED headlights and a reversing camera.
The bodywork of this rare performance car presents in excellent condition, with no evidence of any previous damage. The M5 Competition Edition was offered only in Carbon Black or Mineral White, with this example evidently finished in the former. Its bodywork is accented by a BMW M Performance carbon-fibre rear spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror caps, as well as a gloss black kidney grille surround, all of which present in superb order, clearly benefitting from sparing use and careful garaging. The car rides on a set of 20-inch seven-arm double-spoke alloy wheels in a Jet Black and polished finish, which remain pristine on all four corners, with neat BMW centre caps and M badging.
Moving inside, the Merino Black leather presents in superb order, with minimal signs of use on the front seats. The leather is complemented by neat Opal White stitching, with the colour scheme continuing through the piping in the car's Anthracite floor mats. The carbon-fibre dashboard trim encompasses the bespoke '1/200' designation on the passenger side, signifying this saloon's exclusivity. All of the M5's electrics work perfectly, with no faults or warning lights.
The last routine maintenance was undertaken in February 2020, where the vendor indicates the car received its running-in service and a change of brake fluid. The car's first MOT test was on 7 February 2020 at 1,000 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects.
The wheels come wrapped with Pirelli P Zero tyres, which the vendor reports have plenty of tread left all round. Accompanying the vehicle are all of the original BMW handbooks in their factory leather wallet, alongside two keys.
This BMW M5 Competition Edition is a very rare super saloon, marking one of 20 examples delivered new to the UK – only 10 of which are understood to have been finished in the marque's sleek Carbon Black Metallic finish. Combining outstanding outright pace and performance with impressive comfort and refinement, this M5 is a consummate all-rounder, equally happy racking up the miles on a motorway as it is flowing along exciting B-roads.
