2018 Yamaha Vx Cruiser Top Speed
Brand new 2021 Yamaha VX Cruiser HO 1.8L - top speed 53MPH verses expected 63+MPH - has anyone else experienced this? The Top speed I'm getting is the same as the VX non-HO???

Have not heard this. I would send it back. My 2016 VX Cruiser HO gets 59 after 5 years, i used to be able to get 62 at first. I have a 2021 VX Cruiser HO on order, hoping i don't have the same issue

Strange.. I have a 2019 VXR (same engine) I top at 65 and I weigh 265lbs

My 2018 1.0 vx tops at 59 with me at 240ish lbs on it. I'd definitely take it back.

Unless you have mods it doesn't.

My wife was riding - weighs 125... I have a 2021 GP1800R HO (got them same day same number of riding hours) and was at 66MPH with 150 lbs. more rider weight... I'm going to give it one more chance - need another 70 degree day (only 5 hours on the ski) - then taking it back if results still the same. Hoping it was a known computer error or something since the top speed reached (53mph) on the VX HO is exactly the advertised top speed for VX non-HO version.

Sounds like either saltwater vs. fresh. Or something got sucked into the impeller.

I'll do a closer inspection - it's doubtful though - first time in the water - went through breakin for first 2 hours then speed runs. Didn't seem to have any issue on takeoff or getting to 53MPH... Haven't taken it back out on water yet - will check RPMs plus speed next outing.

i have a 2011 vx and it tops out at 60. you should definitely be able to at least hit that

In the shop now - checked impeller (no issues) and took it out for another test - same result 6600RPM and 53MPH Max…. Factory defect?? Computer issue? Hopefully the shop will figure it out - would love to hear if someone experienced this and has a solution…

My Vx cruiser HO 2021 would only hit 58 at first. Had the 10 hour service work done at around 8 hour mark. Got it back and still it was under 60mph. Today It hit the 10 hours mark and for what ever reason the machine does a solid 65. This is in very light chop into the wind. I weigh about 160.
